# Rewind (https://docs.vitrinka.ai/use/rewind)

## What it does [#what]

Rewind is an opt-in part of [Snap](/start/apps#snap). While it is on, Snap keeps a frame of your focused screen whenever it changes or you switch apps — at least every few minutes while you work, never while you are idle, the screen is locked or a Snap meeting is recording. The text on each frame is read on your Mac and travels with it.

Today's board in your [Personal workspace](/use/day#personal) gains one **Rewind** card: the day as a band of the apps you used. **Scrub** opens the day's frames and plays them back. However many frames arrive, it stays one card.

## Privacy [#privacy]

* **Yours alone.** Frames go only to your Personal workspace, encrypted with its key. Nobody else in your organization — admins included — can open them, and they can never be shared.
* **Never captured.** Password managers, Keychain Access and private or incognito browser windows are always left out, and you add your own apps and sites. An excluded app's windows are removed before the frame is taken, not blurred afterwards.
* **Secrets blurred.** API keys, tokens and card numbers are covered on your Mac before a frame leaves it.
* **Undo.** The ✦ menu pauses Rewind (`⌥⇧H`) or forgets the last 5 minutes or hour — on your Mac and on the server.
* **Kept for a while.** Frames are deleted after 30 days unless you choose 7 or 90. A frame you pin to Today stays, and so does everything Eve wrote.

## Eve keeps your Today [#today]

Turn on **Let eve keep my Today** and the day board grows a **✦ eve** column beside your own entries. Every half hour of active time Eve reads the latest frames — their text, and a few chosen frames when vision is on — together with what happened in your team workspaces and today's meetings, and rewrites the column:

* **Missed** — mentions, review requests and comments that came in while you were heads-down, asks you read on screen and never answered, and meeting commitments nothing tracks yet.
* **Unfinished** — the day's open loops; what is still open carries to tomorrow.
* **Linked work** — the epics and tasks the day touched.
* **Proposed → intake** — new-task drafts in the matching project's [Intake](/pm/intake#screen); nothing becomes a task without someone's verdict.
* **Day memory** — a few lines on what the day was.

Edit anything in the column and it is yours — Eve never rewrites it. Regular passes run on a fast, inexpensive model; **Re-review with Sol** and **Rewrite day memory** in the column's header ask the deeper one when you want it.

## Settings [#settings]

Rewind's settings are one document, edited in Snap (**Settings → Rewind**) or the web (**Settings → Personal → Rewind**): capture, cadence, how long frames stay, the apps and sites never captured, secret blurring, and under **Advanced** the screen-check interval, idle time, Eve's pass interval and closing time, vision and how many frames it may look at, the models, what Eve writes and what counts as missed.

## For organization admins [#org]

An organization admin decides whether members may use Rewind at all — **Settings → Organization → AI → Rewind**: allowed, forbidden, or the deployment's default (allowed on vitrinka.ai, forbidden on a self-hosted deployment until its operator sets `VITRINKA_REWIND_DEFAULT=allow`). Forbidding it stops capture for everyone at once; each person's settings are kept.
