Finding your way around
The top bar and its modules, your homes, search, the Library, notifications, preferences, and the app on a phone.
The top bar
Every page wears the same bar: the module links on the left, the search pill in the middle, the workspace chip and your avatar on the right. The rail under the bar belongs to the module you are in; ⌘B shows or hides it.
| Link | What it opens |
|---|---|
| Home | Your home in this workspace, Mission control — and the way into your work — below. |
| Boards | The board list: Brainstorms, your favorites, each project's boards grouped by epic, then Recent. |
| Library | The whole workspace as flat lists, one kind at a time — below. |
| QA | Recorded sessions. The rail lists Listening, Sessions and Bug reports, then each project with its own Sessions · Runs · Bug reports. |
| World | Every board of the workspace on one canvas; zoom into one to work on it. |
The workspace chip switches workspaces: each row carries one line of what is waiting there and who is live, with the workspace's last fourteen days of moves as a spark and today's count beside it; your Personal workspace joins the list once you first use it (your day), and All workspaces opens the home across all of them. The account menu behind your avatar holds pending invitations, Settings (⌘,), Listening — which agent sessions are holding a board's queue right now — Link a device, Theme, Streamer mode and sign out.
Homes
Every home leads with the places your work lives, and your desk sits beside or under them. A move is any event on a task — its creation, a status change, a comment, a link, a run — by a person, an agent or Eve.
- All workspaces — the day's numbers in one line, a tile per workspace (type to filter, 1–9 to open) with the rest folded under All, then Recent beside waiting on you across every workspace (invitations, questions, mentions, alerts); + new workspace sits at the foot.
- A workspace's home — Mission control: your goals on the left, the picked goal's features as Now · Next · Shipped in the centre, the decisions waiting on you on the right. It is the one door to your work — the top bar has no Work link; open a project from here and the rail beside it lists Needs you, Intake and every project. The old My work and
/projectsaddresses redirect here. - A project's home — five hubs: Overview, History, Work, Plan and Record, each with its displays — views. In the project pages, resting the pointer on a linked task, board or document shows a small live preview, holding ⌥ shows a bigger one, and one click opens it — the task panel.
Search
⌘K, or a click on the pill, opens one search over the workspace: tasks, annotations, boards, pages, cards, sessions, shots and tags in one list, with a live preview of the highlighted row beside it. On a project page the list also offers that project's actions. A task is found by anything written on it — its fields, refs and comments included — and each row says where it matched; a misspelt word also searches its correction, and a row only the correction found is marked ≈.
| Type | To get |
|---|---|
#432 or vt-432 | Task 432 and annotation 432, each pinned by its exact id, with the task's board; on a project page, that project's task 432. №432 names the annotation thread alone, and a vt-432 inside a longer word, such as a branch name, pins the task too. |
#checkout · -#archive | Only what carries the tag · boards that carry it dropped. |
project:shop · type:bug · state:done | One project, one task type, one state (in: works like state:); a value naming nothing says which ones exist. |
ws:acme | A search in another workspace you are a member of. |
| A pasted vitrinka link | The page it points to, even in another workspace you belong to. |
⌥⇥ switches the depth: deep searches every group, quick only tasks, boards and pages; the palette remembers your choice. On a board, ⌘F searches the board itself — working on a board. Inside a project, . opens the project's own palette — views.
The Library
| Kind | What it lists |
|---|---|
| Boards | The wall of every board, with a project and a tag lens in the rail. |
| Artifacts | Documents and artifact sets across every project. |
| Screens | Every captured screenshot. |
| Memory | What the workspace remembers: one memory document per project, written from its page or by an agent. |
| Favorites | What you and the workspace keep close, in folders. |
A ★ on a board, card, session, task or project keeps it — for you or for the whole workspace, whichever the workspace's default says; ⌥-click does the other one, and Settings → Preferences → Favorites can fix what a plain click means for you. Favorites also head the Boards rail. From a terminal: vitrinka fav — reference.
Notifications
What notifies you:
- On boards — a new annotation, a reply in a thread or in a board's chat, a new question, an AI review pass, and a guest's nudge on a shared board. Board activity goes to every member of the workspace except whoever did it: you are never notified of your own, while what an agent does with a token you minted still reaches you. Only something new notifies — an edited annotation or reply, a new revision or an answered question does not; the open board shows the change live.
- Addressed to you — an @mention of you in a new annotation, reply or board chat message (a mention added by a later edit does not notify), and a reminder someone addresses to you on a board.
- About your account — a sign-in from a browser or device you have not used before, and a newly connected app.
Settings → Preferences → Notifications has two switches. Email notifications is off until you turn it on and needs a deployment that can send mail. Push notifications is set per device and reaches it even with the tab closed; the switch shows only when the deployment has web push configured. On a phone, install the app first (below).
Preferences
Settings → Preferences follows your account across browsers and the desktop app.
| Group | Examples |
|---|---|
| Appearance | The theme — vitrinka, midnight and sunset are dark, paper and sunrise light — type and layout sizes, and how notifications look. |
| Board interaction and Canvas & zoom | Whether a drag on empty canvas selects or pans, pushing cards aside while dragging, the + insert gallery in the toolbar, whether the scroll wheel zooms, focus dim. |
| Composer and Session timeline | Whether Enter sends; which edge the recorded-session timeline docks on. |
| Favorites | What a plain ★ click does. |
| Privacy | Hide my email, and streamer mode: your email, every teammate's email and name, and workspace names arrive masked from the server — for a shared or recorded screen. |
| Effects & performance | The World minimap, blur behind overlays, lighter rendering for slower machines. |
| Notifications and Application | Above; install as app. |
The theme and streamer mode are also one click away in the account menu.
On a phone or tablet
- The phone shell — a bottom bar with Home · Boards · Brainstorms · QA, with the Library under Boards, and a top bar with search and the workspace chip. A board's islands open as bottom sheets.
- Touch — two fingers always pinch and pan; one finger drags a card once it has moved a little, so a tap only selects; a long press opens the radial ring.
- Install as app — Settings → Preferences → Application → install as app in Chromium browsers; on iOS, Share → Add to Home Screen. The app then opens full-screen with its own icon.
- Offline — a pill at the bottom says you are offline, the time a cached board dates from, and how many of your annotations, replies and answers are queued; they are sent when the connection returns. Other changes need a connection.
